“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
I am thrilled to be your 4th grade teacher this year!
I have had many different positions within education, but teaching in the classroom is always my favorite place to be!
I went back to the classroom 2016-2017 school year to be able to do something I love and at the same time being closer to my home and having more time with my family! My husband (Albert) and I, have two sons, Nathan (age 14) and Noah (age 12). We love doing things together including traveling, anything outside (such as kayaking or hiking), playing with our dogs (Great Dane Sherman and a Chocolate Lab Riley) and spending time with friends! We are so lucky to have my Dad (who happens to be turning 82 this school year) live with us and help us with so many things.
Family is very important to me and I also lead our classroom as a family. I am sure you will hear many stories of our family style learning environment across the school year! My job is to challenge your child and make sure every student has grown further than the individual ground they stood on day one. Although we will build relationships and have fun, I promise you that I am only doing my job when your child experiences a healthy struggle to master something new and is driven to think critically. I believe in pushing students to be the best they possibly can be whether they have are academically gifted or have experienced challenges academically thus far.
You can be assured that there will be maximum growth no matter where your child currently stands.
Feel free to view my resume below. I originally graduated with my Bachelors of Science from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 2001 and with my Masters of Education Leadership and Curriculum Specialty in May 2011 from Winthrop University. Since then I have taught, worked in a corporation, ran a home preschool, been a teacher coach and facilitator and was a Principal for 5 years. I loved being a Principal and was fortunate to have been at two fantastic schools gaining great memories and experiences, HOWEVER my heart is truly in the classroom and so I took a huge risk and went back to the classroom level. It is among the top decisions I have ever made in my life. I have loved every minute and with two school-age sons, it is a perfect fit for my family!
I absolutely love Elon Park and we will work hard together to make fourth grade your best year yet. We have a fantastic administration and team of teachers and we are ALL here to serve you. Please always keep in touch and let me know how we can help make this a great year.
